In certain cases of melanoma, it might be necessary to take a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dermatologiagarces.es\/en\/cutaneous-screening-and-melanoma-diagnosis\/\"><strong>biopsy of the sentinel lymph node<\/strong><\/a>, an obligatory diagnostic test which determines the extent of the treatment for melanomas.<\/p>\n<p>Once the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dermatologiagarces.es\/en\/cutaneous-screening-and-melanoma-diagnosis\/melanoma-diagnosis\/\"><strong>necessary diagnostic tests<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0have been performed, the treatment will be defined.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=&#8221;20&#8243; content_placement=&#8221;middle&#8221;][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Types of Treatment&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><strong>1. Destroying the Tumor<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There is a set of methods designed to destroy the tumor which are effective in superficial tumors or for patients who for some reason cannot undergo surgery.<\/p>\n<p>These are generally outpatient techniques that do not require general anesthesia but which, on the other hand, do not permit an analysis of the tumor or a control of the margins of destruction. Consequently, there is no guarantee that the tumor will not reappear and regular subsequent check-ups are always required.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><u>Physical Destruction of the Tumor<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The techniques for physically destroying the tumor include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dermatologiagarces.es\/en\/dermatologic-surgery\/cryotherapy\/\"><strong>cryotherapy<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dermatologiagarces.es\/en\/aesthetic-dermatology\/laser-treatment\/\"><strong>laser therapy<\/strong><\/a> \u00a0and radiotherapy. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dermatologiagarces.es\/en\/dermatologic-surgery\/photodynamic-therapy\/\"><strong>Photodynamic therapy<\/strong><\/a> is the most recent addition to these techniques and is the therapy with the highest cure rate.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Chemical Destruction of the Tumor<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some chemical substances are effective against tumorous cells and prompt an immune response in the patient against the malign cells.
